Meet Erin
My name is Erin (they/them), and I'm a queer, neurodivergent, polyam-aligned, and kink-aligned therapist in California. I completed my Bachelors in Psychology at CSU, Fresno, and my Masters in Social Work at CSU, Sacramento. I was so privileged to witness what advocacy could look like on a community scale. It was clear to me early on in my training that I had a passion for working with trauma. I started my practice as a licensed therapist right as the pandemic settled in, where trauma, grief, and the unknown very much became widespread experiences. I continued to learn more and work to specialize in neurodivergence and GSRD (Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diversity) clients, and began to learn more about complex trauma, attachment trauma, and neurodivergent trauma.
I began to specialize in C-PTSD (Complex-PTSD) as I continued to seek connection with other professionals and engage in trainings about neurodivergence, attachment, polyamory/consensual non-monogamy, Internal Family Systems/Parts Work, psychedelics, Geek Therapy, and gender, sexuality, and kink/BDSM and D/s dynamics. I enjoy learning, and I continue to seek knowledge to grow in my own practice.
My Therapeutic Philosophy
You may have noticed my logo: a bowl that has broken and been repaired with gold. This is directly due to my appreciation of the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where, if pottery or ceramics are broken or in need of repair, gold or other precious metals are used to repair the piece, instead of purposely disguising the repairs with more covert methods. This style of art is purposefully meant to highlight the breakage of the piece, and honor its history.
Kintsugi celebrates the defining characteristics of the piece as a whole, just as we as humans deserve to celebrate and revel in our authenticity. While we may have learned to see parts of ourselves as “broken”, kintsugi invites us to expand our perspective and see all parts of ourselves. We are not only the experiences that we have had, but we are instead resilient, authentic, and uniquely “us” through our experiences and the meaning that we give them.
In therapy, clients are able to explore their experiences, reinterpret events, and reconstruct their narratives in order to create their own more empowering story that acknowledges their strength and resilience. Through this process, we embark on a journey of healing and transformation in order to reach growth, self-acceptance, and overall well-being. Clients are able to learn how to accept and understand their parts, while learning to navigate life’s challenges with greater understanding and more self-compassion.
